The second conference call was held on Wednesday, April 18. Participants were:

Topics Addressed:

1. The Membership Sub Committee submitted the following recommendations. (attached)

            Those advisory committee members present voted to accept the recommendations.

            In keeping with item number 7, Bud Levin (via email viewing) and I would propose further discussion of item number 4 on the

            next conference call. The discussion point being not to allow one person to accept or reject but that the chairperson review

            applications and present those to the advisory Committee for a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ vote.

2. A “Talking Points” document (attached) was developed by Gene Stephens on behalf of Susan Kyzer and the document presented for vote. The document was accepted by the committee members present.

3. The PublicSafetyLeadership.org web site is now available. Members are asked to review the site and provide comments to Spears via email or at the next conference call.

4. Through the effort of Bud Levin, the advisory committee may select passages posted on the PFI listserv and with permission from the author post those passages on PublicSafetyLeadership.Org.

5. Steve Casey and staff informed the committee that FDLE in concert with the Executive Alumni Association in Florida will host the 2008 Summit. Most likely location will be in the Orlando area and target date is the summer (July) of ’08. Steve has requested input as to a conference leadership theme on which to build a program.

6. The Research Team will convene on May 28, in Columbia. The teams consists of:

          Dr. Jim Alexander – LEMIT

          Dr. David Bugg

          Representative for SSgt. Len Hall

          David Brand – FDLE

          Lt. Rob Woods – SCHP

          Major Randy Scott – Richland County SO

          Lt. Dave Williams – Greenville County SO

          Dr. Gene Stephens and Spears Westbrook will serve as hosts/facilitators

7. Additional points of discussion were:

1.       SCCJA will design a membership card with logo at no cost to the Consortium.

2.       FDLE will produce and distribute membership cards at no cost to the Consortium.

3.       Spears Westbrook and Steve Casey will collaborate to produce an application form for membership.

** The next advisory committee conference call will be scheduled in approximately 4 weeks. An agenda will be published prior to the call. Two items for the agenda will be:

1.       Summit theme

2.       Web site review and activities to promote the site.

All advisory members are encouraged to provide comments and to request agenda items.
